Our fast paced lives can often put us into situations where we are stressed and we don’t even feel know it.
However, it is moments like these that we need to focus on our bodies and the signals that it is sending us that we need to change something and simply put – relax.
Here are the 9 signs that your body will send if you’re over-stressed:
1. Your Whole Body Is In Pain
When your stress levels are extremely high, your body will start to crank up and break down. You will experience health issues such as tense muscles, diarrhea, chest pain, stomach issues palpitations and ulcers. Headaches will also be a very common issue on daily basis and you might even develop arthritis. That is why, if you’re dealing with so much stress from work, or with family and friends, it is important to know where to draw the line. Listening to the natural responses of your body will show you when you need to take some preventive measures.
2. You aren’t sleeping well
Another thing that people doesn’t pay attention to is sleep. You should be aware if there is some fluctuation in the sleep pattern, or you are sleeping too much or not sleeping at all. These are really important and you can find a simple solution for this issues like meditation, exercise and a healthy diet. But, you should not stop thinking from where does this problems come. Is it worrying too much when you go to sleep, or having nightmares, or something’s bothering your subconscious? All these can affect your sleep. Sleeping patterns can also change with age and environmental factors, but, when you are overstressed, sleep is one of the first things that gets affected.
3. Weight Change
Do you find yourself constantly gaining and losing weight on a weekly, monthly or yearly basis? Stress could be the main culprit. Block et al showed that weight gain and stress come hand in hand in their revealing study on weight gain. However, being over stressed can also have the opposite effect on your body; causing you to actually lose weight.
You might be concentrating too much on the stressful subject matter at hand, or maybe the mere thought of the stressful situation makes you feel sick. Remember to eat healthily! Chef Marshall O’Brian recommends eating foods high in magnesium (rich leafy greens), potassium(avocados) and vitamin C (oranges) as well as lean meats (turkey) to help alleviate stress.
Solutions: By sticking to a meal plan and eating biotin packed foods you should be able to avoid unnecessary weight gain or loss. Here are some great smoothie and tea recipes to keep you energized and thinking positively.
4. Hair loss
According to Carolyn Jacob, MD, founder and medical director of Chicago Cosmetic Surgery and Dermatology, “typically, people shed about 100 hairs a day. Most people don’t even notice.
Sometimes, a significant stress of sort may spark a change in your body’s routine physiological functions, and cause a disproportionate number of hairs to go into the resting phase at the same time.
Then three to four months later, sometimes longer, all those resting hairs are shed. The effect can be alarming. The types of events that disrupt the normal hair cycle can be caused by the substantial physiological stresses on your body.”
In the case of a hair loss, make sure you examine your stress levels and discovered the reason for your issues.
5. You Can’t Get Your Mind Off Of Your Problems and Work
If you find yourself having problems with letting go whatever your problem is, even for a moment, then stress has a good hold of you. It is a fact that you cannot find a solution for something if your head is constantly in a buzz and not thinking straight. So whatever the issue and the cause for your stress and problem is, always try to find a moment to relax and get your head clear before you start looking for a solution. Being over-stressed will not only prevent you from coming up with a solution, but it will also emotionally break you down.
6. Mood Swings
Stress can affect your hormone levels in extreme ways and can even lead to the development of serious disorders such as; diabetes, Graves disease, and fertility problems.
These changes in mood may also be affecting the people surrounding you, pushing them away or making them think twice about speaking to you. Start becoming aware of the negative effects your mood may be having on others and try to concentrate on how to have a happier and healthier reaction to other people.
Solutions: Work on taking a step backward and assessing your situation. By being in control of what you’re thinking will help you avoid getting irritated at other people. Here are ten different ways you can help your mood swings and balance those hormones!
7. You can’t sit still
As we said before, a little stretching exercise can really help if you are stressed. But the chances your body is overstressed are bigger if you just can’t go for a walk, or do stretching exercise or even be with your own thoughts. If anxiety is constant and you can’t relax to even read a book, it’s time to address what’s causing you to avoid being still.Sometimes the mind is the worst enemy. It’s time you get help with managing your anxiety and fears. Stress can be triggered by an imbalance in the emotional body. Things we avoid get pushed further and further down until we feel it in other areas of the body.
8. Little patience for others
If you have become impatient, angry, intolerant, and irritated, even towards the closest friends and family, you may be exhausted from everything you are going through. You need to slow down and manage stress, as it seriously and negatively affects your everyday life.
9. You Have a Loss of Libido
One of the most common issues that stressed people avoid to confess is the loss of libido. When the stress levels in the body are increased the hormones responsible to the sexual response are greatly affected. Although many people won’t confess this to themselves or even their partner, if you’re having problems with your decreased libido it is time for you to start some relaxation techniques, exercises, consulting and stress management. Once you share your problems they no longer will have any power over you.
