Corn originates from North America, but today its varieties yield numerous products, which are highly valued all around the world. Starting from French fries up to chicken nuggets, almost everything contains corn.
In fact, most of the foods that people unknowingly pick from the grocery store shelf contain corn, and there are included sodas (including diet ones), pudding, ketchup, salad dressing, fruit juices, yogurt, baked cookies, mayonnaise, peanut butter and sometimes even milk are just a few.
But experts warn that this insane consummation of corn has devastating effect on human health. Namely, studies have proved that corn has the worst Omega-6 to Omega-3 ratio out of all grains.
The omega 3 fatty acids are responsible for hormones that are anti-inflammatory while the omega 6 fatty acids are in charge for producing hormones that support inflammation.
If the amount of omega 6 supersedes the amount of omega 3, human body starts losing control over the inflammatory response and that may result in various health issues, and the most common are immune disease, cancer, asthma, diabetes, increased cholesterol, cardiovascular disease and even depression.

Corn is NOT a Vegetable!
Corn is a very unhealthy grain because it’s the most sugary, starchy, empty grain. Corn was domesticated and cultivated by humans more than 6000 years ago in central Mexico from a plant known as teosinte. Corn was the first genetically modified food and continues to be re-engineered in ways you never imagined possible.
Corn Can Activate an Autoimmune Disease
Although the corn does not contain gluten, it is pretty irritating for the gut lining. This is due to the fact that the body actually perceives the proteins from the corn as gluten, which can disturb the immune system. Moreover, corn has a high glycemic index, which means that it is able to easily turn into sugar in the body and then cause an insulin response and add to inflammation.
Corn Can Not Be Digested
On Health.com it was said that people cannot completely digest corn as it contains the fiber cellulose. The cellulose cannot be fully broken down by the human digestive system as it lacks the enzyme which is responsible for that, which often causes troubles for some people to completely digest corn. Just like all grains do, corn also contains prolamins, which represent a class of proteins that your body cannot break down in the right way and result in such conditions as leaky gut.
Corn Contains Lectins
Lectins are proteins that we can’t digest. We normally digest proteins into amino acids where they are absorbed through the small intestine wall and used by your body to build cellular structures and components. However, since we can’t digest lectins, they pass through the wall of our gut undigested as complete proteins. This damages the gut and causes inflammation.
Today’s corn is loaded with pesticides
A study conducted in Canada, has showed that most of the corn contains BT (Bacillus thuringiensis) insecticide, but also contains other harmful poisons and is not organic in nature. Namely, this study was conducted in 2011 and discovered that the BT toxin gets accumulated in human blood and easily may disrupt organ functionality to an extent which actually may cause long-term health illnesses.
According to the study published in the International Journal of Biological Sciences, effects of genetically modified foods on mammalian health were analyzed and it was discovered that about 85% of corn in America is genetically modified. It is even more surprising that researchers during that study discovered that agricultural giant Monsanto’s GM corn is linked to organ damage in rats.
